Who We Are
Our vision is to develop into an epicenter of rest, growth and life, rooted in the local church and community, where those in prostitution in Athens can find restoration and new life. We desire to see holistic change- in souls, spirits and bodies of women and men in prostitution – whether they work by choice according to Greek legal provisions, or by exploitation from trafficking rings or pimping.
Staff & Volunteers with diverse backgrounds in social work, psychology, theology, education, business, or simply those who care.
A registered Greek non-profit organization, Nea Zoi is affiliated with International Teams, an organization striving to assist those in need. Their teams serve refugees, individuals in prostitution, youth, those facing economic hardship, and many others around the globe. For more information visit www.iteams.org.
Our goals
- To offer care, information, training as well as emotional and practical support to those working in prostitution.
- To provide alternatives for their lives and empower women and men who wish to change
- To fight against human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the region.
Our philosophy and operating principles
- We respect each individual’s right to choice.
- We recognize and respect the cultural, social, religious, gender and other differences for the recipients of our services.
- We do not discriminate based on the above-mentioned differences.
- We believe in the value of each person and in his or her potential to contribute positively to the community.
- Our motives are Christian principles of practically expressed compassion and the love of God towards marginalized individuals.
- We believe that the ability to create relationships is foundational for the happiness of man, and thus restoration requires healthy relationships with God, family and society.
- We believe that prostitution and human trafficking are destructive both for the individuals involved as well as for society at large.
